Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the NDIS and how NARS Support and Services can help you.
About the NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that provides funding to people with permanent and significant disabilities to help them access supports and services that improve their independence and quality of life. The NDIS is managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). It is designed to give participants choice and control over how their funding is used.
To be eligible, you must: be aged under 65 when you first apply; be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder; live in Australia; and have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to do everyday activities. You can check your eligibility at ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis.
NDIS funding is divided into three budget categories: Core Supports (help with daily activities and community participation), Capacity Building Supports (to build your skills and independence), and Capital Supports (for assistive technology and home modifications). The specific supports funded depend on what is deemed "reasonable and necessary" for your individual situation and goals.
